Does CUET PG have a centralized counselling portal like JOSAA?

No. CUET PG does not have a single centralized national counselling window. Every Central, Deemed, and State University operates an independent counselling portal on the Samarth eGov infrastructure. You must register separately on each target university's website.

Are state OBC certificates valid for Central Universities in CUET PG?

No. For central universities like TISS, DU, JNU, and BHU, your caste must be listed on the Central List of OBCs published by the NCBC, and the certificate must be issued in the Government of India format after March 31st of the relevant financial year.

What is considered a safe score for TISS Mumbai Flagship HRM?

For the General (Unreserved) category in Paper Code COQP12, a raw score of 235 or higher out of 300 is considered a safe target for TISS Mumbai's MA in HRM & LR.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Everything you need to know about normalisation models, single vs. multi-shift exams, caste certificate cutoffs, spot counselling, and fee structures.

1 Counselling, Portals & Allocation Workflow

No. Unlike JEE (JoSAA) or NEET (MCC), there is NO common centralized seat allocation platform for CUET PG. The National Testing Agency (NTA) only conducts the examination and declares the scorecards. Every university (TISS, DU, BHU, JNU, SAU, etc.) operates an independent admission portal. You must track each university separately and register within their respective deadlines.

If you fail to register on a university’s individual portal before their declared deadline, you will NOT be considered for regular admission rounds (Round 1, Round 2, or Round 3). However, some universities (like DU CSAS) open a Mid-Entry window with a late fine, or allow fresh registrations during Open Spot Counselling Rounds in August if vacancies remain.

After 3-4 regular counselling rounds, many admitted students withdraw their seats after getting into higher-tier universities (like IIMs, XLRI, or premier central programs). The leftover vacant seats are published in Spot Admission Rounds. In these rounds, cutoffs frequently drop by 30 to 50 marks, making it the highest ROI window for moderate-scoring candidates.

2 Caste Certificates, Reservation & Quotas

Central Universities are governed by Central Government statutory policies. Certain castes that are recognized as OBC in state lists (e.g., in Rajasthan, UP, or Bihar) are categorized under the General list in the Central Gazette. Your caste must explicitly be present in the Central List of OBCs at ncbc.nic.in, and the certificate must be issued in the prescribed Government of India format.

Because Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) eligibility is calculated on the preceding financial year's gross family income (under ₹8 Lakhs/year), the certificate MUST be issued on or after March 31, 2024 for 2024-25 admissions, or March 31, 2025 for 2025-26 admissions. Certificates issued prior to March 31st are treated as expired.

3 Normalization & Scoring Formulas

Raw Score is the actual marks you obtained (+4 for each correct answer minus 1 for each wrong answer out of 300). For exam papers conducted in a single shift (like COQP12), admission is based directly on the raw score. For exams conducted in multiple shifts with varying difficulty levels, NTA uses the equipercentile method to calculate a normalized score.

For TISS Mumbai’s flagship MA in Human Resources Management & Labour Relations (HRM & LR) under COQP12, the General (UR) closing cutoff is typically 235+ marks out of 300. For TISS Mumbai’s MA in Social Work, Master of Public Health, and Policy programs under COQP11, safe scores range between 175 to 195 marks.
